Meet the author!
It wasn’t until I was in my 60ties, that I was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. Looking back, it explains a lot. I had always taken the “road less traveled” to get where I wanted to go. Now, I realize that ADHD was actually a gift, a gift that helped me follow my own path.”
I was different, I thought differently. But once I learned to embrace my differences nothing stopped me. When I was a little girl, my dad, my biggest fan, had always told me to “reach for the stars but keep one toe on the ground.” Today, thanks to his advice and with the encouragement and help of my grandchildren, I reached for another star, writing children’s chapter books.
The road I traveled wasn’t an easy one. Nonetheless with determination and grit, and by not taking “no” for an answer, I persevered. Along the way, I married, raised two wonderful sons, got an Associate Arts degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree, a law degree, a Master in Architecture, and was an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at an historically black college in Prairie View, Texas.
I practiced law before establishing a career first in architecture in 1988 and then in both architecture and construction in 2004. In 2020, I closed my architecture and construction company, Open Design & Development, affectionately known as “The Odd Group,” to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a writer.
I’m originally from Manchester, Connecticut. Today, I split my time between Seattle, Washington and Palm Springs, California. When I’m not living on my floating home on the eastern shore of Lake Union in the Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle with my husband, Kevin, and Maddie, I live with them in Chino Canyon, nicknamed "Little Tuscany" one of Palm Springs quaint and eclectic downtown neighborhoods.
Life remains a joy and a challenge. Thanks for joining me and Maddie on this adventure.

Meet the star of the show!
I was born in Waller, Texas on March 4, 2019. My Four-Legged Mom, Abie, was ready. I mean more than ready. She had waited a long time for that day to arrive. She was a bit tired. My Four-Legged Dad’s name is Caro.
I wasn’t the biggest of the litter, matter of fact, I was one of the smallest of the lot. I weighed 9.25 ounces at birth, ounces, not pounds that is. But that didn’t stop me, no way.
At 8 weeks, I was ready to go home with My Two-Legged Mom and Dad. I had grown. I weighed 9.7 pounds, pounds that is, not ounces. They came to pick me up. I sat on My Two-Legged Dad’s lap all the way to my new home.
My Two-Legged Mom and Dad had a playpen set up for me in the kitchen. They filled it with toys, a big bed, and a crate for me to hide in. I liked it, but I still missed my brothers and sisters. I was lonely. I had no one to snuggle with, or so I thought.
Then one day kids came to play with me. They were My Two-Legged Mom and Dad’s grandchildren. I licked them all over. I was happy again.
A few days later, I snuck out of my playpen. I was brave, and it was time to do a little exploring. There was some weird stuff around, including a strange metal box. I climbed in. I have no idea how I got down. I suspect My Two-Legged Mom rescued me.
